Abbotsford is a Canadian city, located in the Fraser Valley in the province of British Columbia, adjacent to the Greater Vancouver Regional District. It is the fifth municipality with the most population in British Colombia and number 37 in Canada with a population of 133,497 inhabitants (2011). Its metropolitan area has 159,020 inhabitants occupying the 23rd position by population in Canada.

Abbotsford is the third most ethnically diverse city in Canada, after Toronto and Vancouver. It houses the Abbotsford International Airport, which serves as a cargo lifter to the Vancouver International Airport.

Some 62% of residents in Abbotsford work in the City of Abbotsford itself. Most of the remaining 38% commute to Mission, Chilliwack or Vancouver and its suburbs. The Conference Board of Canada has identified the local economy as one of the most diverse in the country. Abbotsford's main industries are agriculture, transportation, manufacturing and retail. The city earns the highest dollar per acre of agricultural land in the country, greater than the Niagara Region and the North Okanagan.
